Associates, P.C. owns and operates the Mobile Reverse Osmosis Water
Treatment System (MROWTS). This trailer mounted system is portable, and
can be located on any project site.
The unit is equipped
with reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment membranes, including provisions
for chemical feed (pre-treatment) and clean-in-place (CIP). The RO system
consists of six pressure vessels, which house eighteen 4-inch diameter
membranes. The array can be set up for multiple stage treatment, and recoveries
from 50% to greater than 85%. Pre-treatment capabilities include micron
pre-filters, acid and scale-inhibitor feeds as needed. Both reverse osmosis
(low pressure and high rejection) and nanofiltration (softening) membranes
can be used. An integral office/lab provides for on-site water analysis
(TDS, conductivity and pH) and record keeping. The system can be set up
for modem-based data monitoring for remote areas. |

The
MROWTS
is used for a variety of membrane water treatment studies, including:
-
Municipal, commercial
and industrial water treatability studies
-
Desalination of brackish
groundwater
-
Water softening (demineralization)
-
Reduction of TDS (total
dissolved solids), chlorides and sulfates
-
Pilot studies to determine
full-scale membrane treatment plant costs
-
Treatment of arsenic,
fluoride, nitrates and other ions
-
Brine (concentrate)
disposal
-
Evaluating multiple
membranes
-
Evaluating hybrid membrane
designs
-
Treatment for reclaimed
water reuse
-
Oil field brine water
recovery
-
Mining tailings water
recovery
-
De-ionized (DI) water
production
-
